Derbyshire has long been associated with great food.

From Bakewell puddings to Derbyshire oatcakes, the county has been responsible for some of the United Kingdom's most famous recipes.

Here are some popular treats most associated with Derbyshire, according to The Foods of England Project, from sweet to savoury:

Fidgety pie

With its roots in South Derbyshire, this savoury pie contains chopped fat bacon, apple and onions in a shortcrust pastry.

The dish was traditionally served to field workers during harvests as it is filling but easy to carry.

For those not out tending to crops, though, the pie can be served with a hearty side of vegetables.
