A Derby power station could be demolished by its owners after years of lying dormant.
In an application to Derby City Council, Sembcorp Utilities UK Limited, which owns Derwent Power Station in Spondon has asked for permission to tear it down.
The company wants to remove the several buildings, including the power generation and steam production plant, water and fuel storage tanks, as well as a secondary process plant.
The power station was originally built to provide energy for Courtaulds Chemicals in 1995, with power and steam being sent to the Celanese works nearby.
However, it has not been operational since 2012 and now Sembcorp wants to tear it down as it is "no longer
