An impressive £175,000 has been secured to begin the work to bring a medieval church in Lincoln back into public use while telling its incredible history.
The City of Lincoln Council and Heritage Lincolnshire have received initial funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the ‘Re-Imagining Greyfriars: 800 years of stories in the making’ project.
The aims is to repair the Grade I listed building in Broadgate and bring it back into use as a heritage attraction and venue.
The initial £175,000 means the council can progress with its plans to apply for a full National Lottery grant of £950,000. The council is being match funded by the
