Construction work is now underway on a new housing development in Oadby, where the first properties are set to go on sale next year.
Ashberry Homes is building a selection of 89 homes at Horwood Gardens, off Gartree Road, including a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses.
The housebuilder is providing the properties as part of a wider scheme of 310 new homes, on land shared with neighbouring developer Bellway. Ashberry Homes is also providing 18 of the 93 affordable homes which are being built at the site.
Horwood Gardens has been named in honour of the first curator of the University of Leicester Botanic Garden, Arthur Horwood. The gardens were established in 1921 and were previously located in the grounds of what is now the University of Leicester, before moving to Oadby in 1947, where they have been situated ever since.
Elaine Brown, Head of Sales for Ashberry Homes, said: “There is a home to suit everyone at Horwood Gardens, from those looking to find their first home, to families looking to upgrade and also buyers who are looking to downsize.
“The quality and variety of homes we have on offer at the development is reflected in the high level of interest we’ve been receiving in the site.
“The development is also conveniently situated on the outskirts of Leicester, just four miles from the city centre, and five miles from junction 21 of the M1, as well as being just a mile from The Parade, Oadby’s high street, where an array of shops and restaurants can be found.
“For families, there’s a choice of schools within easy reach of Horwood Gardens, and those who love the outdoors can discover a variety of parks and nature reserves in the area.
“I would encourage those looking for a new home in Leicestershire to register their interest now to avoid missing out.”
