More than 500 people chase 63 homes at new Duston development

More than 500 people have already enquired about a new housing development in Duston that hasn’t even opened to the public yet.

The hundreds of enquiries have been for Bellway’s Duston Gardens, part of a scheme to redevelop the former British Timken site. The development is providing 63 homes for private sale, as well as seven affordable homes available for local people through rent or shared ownership, and will welcome its first visitors in January.

Work started on the site off Bants Lane last year, and sees Bellway returning to Duston after completing a previous development, off Harry Brown Close.

Luke Southgate, Sales Director of Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “We’ve seen an incredible demand for new homes in the area in 2020, and that looks to be continuing into 2021, as Duston Gardens launches.

“We like to think our reputation as a five-star builder has gone before us – and our previous development in Duston also did extremely well. We are looking forward to returning to Duston to provide the area with further much-needed new housing.”

Bellway retained its five-star rating with the Home Builders Federation (HBF) in 2020, after more than 90 per cent of customers said they would recommend the housebuilder to a friend or family member.

Duston Gardens is part of a wider scheme transforming the former British Timken site which closed in 2002. Part of the site has already been re-developed, including The Poppy Field Farm pub/carvery which will be on the doorstep for new residents at Duston Gardens.

A new on-site sales office will open at Duston Gardens in January, when the first selection of houses will be released for sale. The development will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties, with the first homes due to be ready to move into in August next year.

Luke said: “Duston Gardens is already proving a draw for first-time buyers, families and commuters. The development has a really great setting, nestled in a well-connected area of Duston, just two miles west of Northampton town centre.

“We’re close to some pretty Northamptonshire countryside and an excellent selection of shops and family attractions. We’re also very well-connected transport-wise; only three miles from junction 15A of the M1, and just over a mile-and-a-half from Northampton railway station.”
