A drink driver gave his cousin's details to the police and was prosecuted at court under the wrong name, a judge was told.
Daniel Paintsil's dishonest actions led to his cousin having difficulty obtaining a visa to return to the UK - and later having to officially clear his name in court.
The 35-year-old defendant had been hoping to escape undetected - as he was in even worse trouble because, unlike his cousin, he did not have a full driving licence and was not insured.
It then came to light that Paintsil had previously been prosecuted in his cousin's name for an earlier motoring offence in 2012.
