The grieving family of an “extraordinary” Derby man bravely watched the horrific moment he was struck and killed by a careless driver.
Sohan Singh was propelled several metres by the impact of Zahoor Hussain's vehicle as the victim crossed the road just feet away from his Littleover home.
40-year-old Hussain got a seven-month suspended sentence and walked free from court, having pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving.
CCTV played at Derby Crown Court showed the 87-year-old victim using his stick to get across Pastures Hill after getting off the bus.
Seconds later he was hit by Hussain's Nissan Qashqai.
