England's Deputy Chief Medical Officer said "we are at the worst stage of the pandemic" as he volunteered his spare time giving the Covid vaccine to patients in Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Live reported that Professor Jonathan Van Tam was seen at Carlton's Richard Herrod Centre, which was one of the first to open as a hub in Nottinghamshire, as he helped give the vaccine out on Sunday, January 10.

Now the NHS has released pictures of him wearing PPE as he helped vaccinate residents from the area.

Professor Van Tam said: “Thank you to all the volunteers and staff for the professional and warm welcome.
