Nottinghamshire records 770 new coronavirus cases as death toll hits highest figure since pandemic began

Nottinghamshire recorded another 770 positive coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

The figure marks a jump from the previous day's figure of 591 confirmed cases. Nottingham city and Mansfield saw the biggest increases in the number of recorded cases.

The city had an increase of 210 new cases while Mansfield confirmed 136 positive tests.

Nationally there were 1,564 deaths within 28 days of a positive test today, the highest daily figure since the start of the pandemic.

The latest data, which shows there were 47,525 positive cases in the UK, was published by the Government in conjunction with Public Health England at 4pm on Wednesday, January 12.
