A weather warning remains in place for snow across parts of the country - with wintry showers possible across the region this morning (Thursday, January 14).
An amber warning for snow was issued by Met Office forecasters for parts of Scotland and the north east of England, from 3pm on Wednesday (January 13) through to 10am the following morning.
A yellow 'national severe' weather warning was also issued for snow and ice across England and Scotland.
Locally, the morning rain is expected to become wintry at low levels and change to snow at high levels.
Snow is said to be likely at high levels but still possible at low levels.
