Man appears in court following stabbing of 16-year-old boy

A man has appeared in court over the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Stapleford.

The alleged incident took place in at Hickings Lane Recreation Ground, near the bottle banks, in the early hours of Boxing Day, December 26 last year.

Police were called at 5.30am to reports that a boy had received stab wounds - he was taken to Queen's Medical Centre with serious injuries.

Jake Rollinson, 20, of Hicklngs Lane, Stapleford, was initially charged with attempted murder by police over the incident.

Sixteen-year-old Joe Whitchurch later died on Tuesday, December 29, and a murder investigation was launched.
