Skegness hotel owner told police drinkers at bar 'part of my social bubble'

A hotel opposite Skegness Pier could lose its licence after the owner tried to claim people illegally drinking in his bar were in his social bubble.

Russell Sparkes, who runs the prominent Grosvenor Hotel in the seaside town, breached the coronavirus rules during the November lockdown by opening the hotel bar, prompting the local police to investigate.

On November 17, Lincolnshire Police had been sent pictures of people drinking in the bar, LincolnshireLive reported.

But when they investigated, they were told by Mr Sparkes that the people seen in the building were all allowed in because they lived at the hotel permanently.
