Tributes to Nicky Booth following death of former Commonwealth boxing champion

Tributes have been paid to a well-known Nottingham boxer Nicky Booth who has died.

The 40-year-old, who was once British and Commonwealth bantamweight champion, has been described by the boxing community as a 'top lad'.

Nicky, who was known as '1 smooth', was the younger brother of boxer Jason Booth, known as '2 smooth'.

They attended Radford Boxing Club as youngsters growing up locally.

Former European champion Spencer Oliver, now a boxing analyst, paid tribute on Twitter.

He wrote: "Just heard the sad news that former British and Commonwealth Champion Nicky Booth has passed away, Nicky was a great little Boxer, RIP Champ."
