Pupils at Ledbury Primary School have been going ‘quackers’ following a donation of books which celebrate friendship and bravery from leading homebuilder David Wilson Homes.

Written by local author Victoria Palmer, ‘The Angry Duck’ is a children’s book which explores relationships, overcomes misunderstandings and celebrates that everyone is different.

In supporting the community close to its Kipling Road development St Catherine’s Grange, David Wilson Homes was touched by the powerful message in the book and wanted to help to share the story with local children.

Victoria said: “I’m so humbled to have had my book selected as part of this amazing initiative. I really hope that The Angry Duck helps children to understand that it’s ok to be themselves - in fact, that’s a great thing. I also hope it helps them realise that we are all different, and that is worth celebrating and not something to be afraid of.

Whilst supporting local and helping to promote the book, the donation was also intended to encourage pupils to develop their listening and reading skills, all as they learn the important moral of the story.

10 of the books are now being enjoyed by the key worker and vulnerable pupils at the school and the story will be shared with all the children via Zoom sessions and when they return to school.

Steve Barton, Senior Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “It’s always a pleasure to work so closely with communities to enable us to make a positive impact in the areas in which we build.

“As a leading homebuilder, it is incredibly important to support local organisations, businesses and charities as they are able to bring communities together and we hope to support people in the local area of Ledbury more as our development progresses.”

St Catherine’s Grange is now open on an appointment only basis. For more information, visit's-grange or call 0333 355 8479 to book an appointment with a Sales Adviser.
