COALVILLE HOMEBUILDER HELPS FEED THE NEED WITH £250 DONATION

Feed the Need Coalville has received a £250 donation from Leicestershire homebuilder David Wilson Homes East Midlands to support those in need throughout the ongoing pandemic.

Based on High Street, the foodbank distributes food and essentials across Coalville and the contribution from the Bardon-based developer will go towards its work amidst the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

The charity runs two weekly foodbank sessions where people can come without an appointment to collect bags of food, toiletries and cleaning products. They also supply those in need with essentials such as baby formula, nappies and pet food.

Felicity Middleton, Committee Chair of Feed the Need, said: “I can only say how fantastic the David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund scheme is to provide grants like this. We did not have to fill in long forms or jump through hoops which is difficult when you are all volunteers busy getting on with feeding people. Receiving the money made us feel our work was recognised and valued.

“We are not a wealthy organisation; our premises are very basic and we’re all volunteers. We rely heavily on individuals and some supermarkets to donate food to us. The donation from David Wilson Homes gave us the opportunity to supplement the cans and packets of food we usually have with some fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and milk. It was a godsend, it really was.”

Now is as significant a time as any to help those living in poverty and David Wilson Homes’ contribution towards Feed the Need will help its volunteers continue to make a difference for many people in the town.

John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We’re thrilled to support Feed the Need Coalville at such a challenging and difficult time for everyone.

“The representatives of the charity do an outstanding job in providing emergency supplies to those in need, and we hope our donation will support their admirable work during this busy period.”
