With UK holidays allowed in England as soon as 12th April, Love Home Swap anticipates a rise in demand in booked home swaps, following the trend from last year which saw a 282% increase in those taking up a free trial in May following a cautious April in lockdown, with this number increasing further by 73% in June.
Since the first outbreak in Spring 2020, specifically seaside property requests have accounted for 40% as well as an uptake in rural properties stays (30%), which is an overall increase of 43% for UK requests in just one year.
We are already seeing an accommodation shortage as staycation bookings surge for the second year running, so why not give home swapping a go instead? Home swapping is not only a cost-effective way to travel, but it offers private homes in less crowded destinations, away from busy hotels and resorts - www.lovehomeswap.com.
Through its first annual report, global home-swapping platform Love Home Swap revealed that 36% of its members holiday 4+ times a year and save on average £1,065 on holiday accommodation - www.lovehomeswap.com/annualreport2020
Celia Pronto, the Managing Director of of Love Home Swap, comments: “When lockdown lifts and we can once again travel, we anticipate a rise in the number of home swaps ‘booked’. Last year following the initial outbreak, we saw a 282% increase in those taking up a free trial with us in May following a cautious April in lockdown, with this number increasing further by 73% in June. Moreover, we conducted a recent member survey and found that 71% of our members didn’t holiday abroad last year. We anticipate that this number will be smaller this year with the roll out of vaccines, which will hopefully increase confidence in international travel when we’re allowed to do so.
Through home swapping, our members can enjoy peace of mind of having a whole space to themselves, and unlike hotels, they’ll be less people passing through the place you’re staying in. Around half of our homes onsite are main home owners, meaning that you’re also far more likely to be staying in homes in destinations that are further away from tourist hotspots that have a more local feel away from the crowds."
