Notts Developer 'On Side' With Broxtowe United Sponsorship Deal

An award-winning Nottingham property developer is putting community first by investing in a full club sponsorship deal with a renowned local football team.

ALB Group, which has made its name converting large, disused buildings into residential and commercial properties throughout the Midlands and the north, has struck a full club kit deal with Nottingham-based Broxtowe United – and ALB managing director, Arran Bailey, is particularly excited about the move.

He said: “Having recently bought the former Nottingham College campus in nearby Chilwell, with a view to turning the 120,000 square foot site into student apartments, we were looking to supplement that with a broader investment in the local community.

“We were thinking about a community-driven grass-roots football club and, with its forward-thinking approach to social development and inclusivity throughout the borough, Broxtowe United is a shining example of exactly that.”

Broxtowe United football team was established in 2015 with a view to offering children across the borough the chance to learn new skills, make new friends and have fun.

As a community club run by volunteers, it aims not just to bring together kids from different schools, backgrounds and abilities, but to give the social side of youth football as much value and emphasis as the football itself.

There are currently four Broxtowe United teams (under-12s, 13s, 14s & 15s) and as club chairman, James Bromley (38) points out, this new agreement represents a big step forward in the club’s development.

He said: “We have all sorts of sponsorship deals available to help support what we do because we don’t want to exclude small local businesses - but this deal with ALB is the first full club sponsorship we’ve ever had.

“It means we’ll get brand new kits for all four of our teams next season, so it’s a real boost for everyone who gives their time to make this happen. In fact, I honestly think the coaches are as excited as the kids!”

James added: “The initial sponsorship is for one season but I know that the guys at ALB are keen to be properly involved. They want to come along and cheer on the teams, they want to be involved with our family events and they want to do their bit at our regular end of season awards - so I couldn’t be happier to have them on board.”

Arran, whose firm recently won the prestigious title of ‘Developer of the Year’ at the 2020 East Midlands Bricks Awards, added: “James and I are on exactly the same page. Broxtowe United is a brilliant example of a sports club geared toward the positive enrichment of the local community.

“And while the sponsorship money no doubt helps sustain that, what we really want to do here is become an active part of grass routes football, of community development and of the wider family that makes up this outstanding football club.”
