WHERE’S WOOLLY? SCHOOL PUPILS HUNT FOR KNITTED SHEEP WITH DERBYSHIRE DEVELOPER

Lambing season has reached Burton-on-Trent after a group of nursery children at Shobnall Primary School were tasked with finding hidden knitted sheep as part of an activity organised by David Wilson Homes.

Dubbed ‘Where’s Woolly’, the activity required 25 of the nursery children to find the concealed sheep at the school on Shobnall Road.

Knitted by a group of volunteers from Burton Library’s Knit and Natter Club, the sheep were kept by the school to be used as part of an annual tradition, whilst each pupil received a reading book as a prize for taking part.

Tina Farrington, Early Years Specialist at Shobnall Primary School, said: “The Where’s Woolly hunt was a great success with our nursery pupils. The knitted sheep are truly delightful and will now be used as an annual spring event which will support both our Early Years Curriculum and community links.

“I would like to thank David Wilson Homes, the talented volunteers from the Knit and Natter Club and Burton Library for their kind donations, which helped to make this experience fun and memorable for our children.”

The activity, led by David Wilson Homes, was tied in with the name of the housebuilder’s nearby development Shepherd’s Rest which is close to completion, with just one home remaining.

After enjoying the ‘hide and seek’ style event in the school’s playground, the pupils were able to take their new reading materials home.

Rachael Harrison, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “To celebrate our Shepherd’s Rest development coming to an end, we wanted to arrange an activity to mirror the local area and what better way to do it than sheep-filled fun.

“We were delighted to work with Shobnall Primary School’s nursery children and we hope those who took part in the activity enjoy their new books kindly donated by Burton Library.

“A range of families have moved into Shepherd’s Rest since the development first launched and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time here in Burton-on-Trent.”

The final four bedroom home at Shepherd’s Rest is currently available, perfectly suited to growing families.
