Go-ahead secured for hundreds of homes

The go-ahead has been secured for proposals aiming to redevelop a site in Wolverhampton to provide hundreds of homes and new commercial space.

Placefirst is sought planning approval from City of Wolverhampton Council to transform the site of Union Mill and Lower Horseley Fields to provide 366 residential units.

Union Mill comprises a collection of former mill and industrial buildings to the north western corner of the site.

Lower Horseley Fields historically contained the Shakespeare Iron Foundry and the Griffin Works, amongst other industrial operations. The remaining buildings were demolished in 2000 and the cleared site has been used by Dunton Environmental since 2016 as a waste treatment centre.
