A major industrial development expected to create thousands of jobs in Leicestershire has received council backing.
Newlands Developments sought outline approval from North West Leicestershire District Council to develop an approximately 127-acre site on land at Netherfields Lane in Sawley.
The proposed built element of the development extends to 42 acres and is expected to be delivered on previously used land, which has been subject to mining for sand and gravel.
Newlands Developments intends to provide approximately 849,000 sq ft of storage, distribution and general industrial space, along with ancillary offices, HGV parking and staff parking.
An illustrative masterplan shows a total of seven units of floorspace located within the northern part of the site.
