A popular Staffordshire tourist attraction has fallen victim to the national recruitment crisis which is blighting the UK's hospitality and leisure industries.
Alton Towers currently has more than 500 vacancies up for grabs at its Alton-based resort - despite a successful recruitment drive for 1,000 workers ahead of its reopening on April 12.
Bosses have increased their investment in advertising and marketing in a bid to attract new staff but now the company is holding two open days next week in an extra effort to fill the positions.
The recruitment drive comes amid the widely-reported challenges facing hospitality and leisure businesses up and down the UK which are struggling to fill hundreds of thousands of vacancies.
