After their chain broke down, a Nottinghamshire couple managed to obtain a ready-made future with Part Exchange at one of David Wilson Homes’ growing communities.

Having already lived in Bingham for 10 years, Jonathan (38) and Michelle (37) Goddard wanted to make sure their family’s future in the town was permanent and recently settled down at the homebuilder’s Romans’ Quarter development, along with their 10-month-old daughter, Dottie.

The couple, from Sutton-in-Ashfield and Woodhall Spa originally, managed to make the most of the Part Exchange scheme after their chain collapsed.

They had already accepted an offer on their previous property upon reserving their new home at Romans’ Quarter but, after the buyer on a lower part of their chain was unable to get a mortgage, David Wilson Homes stepped in to make sure the family got their dream move.

Michelle said: “The Sales and Part Exchange teams were so proactive and diligent that they were able to arrange to purchase our previous home and complete on it within one week.

“We’d moved in with my parents during the moving process and the thought of starting again and putting our home back on the market was not a pleasant one, not least because we were no longer living in it.

“The communication at every stage was honest and regular and we are so appreciative of all the effort that went in to help us move.”

Michelle’s parents also live at the community on Dunsmore Avenue and, after already sampling the development, the family are now looking forward to a future together in the close-knit neighbourhood.

Michelle continued: “We always knew that, although we loved our previous home, it was more suited to a couple rather than a family and when we were lucky enough to have Dottie in our arms, we decided it was the time to upsize. We felt strongly that a larger living space and garden would be more suited to our growing family.

“We have loved living in Bingham for the past 10 years and knew that this was the area in which we wanted to bring up our little girl. There’s a real family feel on the development.

“It still maintains a small town feel but has lots of lovely amenities. We are grateful that there are good nurseries and schools in the area and we’ve seen the town centre grow to encompass lots of lovely local businesses, which means that we don’t have to travel into Nottingham for shopping or socialising.”

Jonathan and Michelle secured a four bedroom Bradgate style home which will give the family of three room to grow.

Michelle added: “We wanted a home that meant we could spend time together as a family, even when preparing meals and we wanted a multi-functional space that we could use day-to-day for feeding our baby girl and then on occasion for entertaining friends and family.

“Additional living space has also heled us to create a playroom for our baby but also maintain ‘grown up’ rooms as well. We have started to put our mark on the interior and have enjoyed making plans for decorating and filling the rooms.

“We feel happy that this is a home we will be in for many years to come.”

The couple have enjoyed their brief encounters with neighbours and highlighted the friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the community.

Rachael Harrison, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We were thrilled to hear Jonathan, Michelle and Dottie have found room to grow as a family at our Romans’ Quarter development.

“Their experience has perfectly highlighted the benefits of our Part Exchange scheme, as we can take away the hassle of selling an existing property completely.”

There is currently a collection of four and five bedroom homes available at Romans’ Quarter with prices starting from £509,995.
