HOUSEBUILDER TAKES ON YOUNGEST BUILDERS WITH ADOPT A HOUSE SCHEME IN LEDBURY

Leading housebuilder Barratt Homes has welcomed its youngest apprentices with a visit from a Ledbury nursery to the local development, Hawk Rise.

Children from Busy Bees Nursery were invited to the Barratt Homes development on Leadon Way, and have adopted six affordable homes on site that are currently under construction.

The children were given a tour of the site by Senior Site Manager, Hayley Chilton, who answered a number of questions from the budding builders, such as “how does the roof go on?” and “how long until they’re finished?”.

The visit was organised as part of Barratt’s effort to connect with the local community and encourage site safety to schools and children in the area. The children will visit Hawk Rise again to sign off the homes they have adopted and to hand over the keys to their new owners.

Emma Davies, Term Time Manager at Busy Bees Ledbury, said: “'We really appreciate Barratt homes giving us the opportunity to visit the site. It was a great adventure for us and inspired lots of learning, both on site and when we returned to Busy Bees.

“The children were thrilled to wear their hard hats and hi-vis vests, really making them look the part on the site. We all had an incredible time learning about how a house is built, the materials used and what a building site looks like. The whole visit had been planned well for us, and was the most wonderful experience for the children and staff.”

During their visit, the children were also gifted their own Barratt Homes PPE, with specially made hi vis vests and hard hats to ensure that they were safe and visible on site. They even had the opportunity to see the vast number of equipment it takes to make a house a home.

Tanya Silk, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “We were absolutely delighted to welcome the children from Busy Bees Nursery to Hawk Rise in Ledbury. The children have adopted a number of affordable housing plots, and will have the opportunity to visit the site again to see them when they are all finished.

“As a five star builder, it is important that we promote site safety to local children in what can be a very dangerous environment, and encourage those who could be building homes in the future.

“The children from Busy Bees Nursery received their very own Barratt Homes PPE, which we hope will be a nice reminder of a fun and educational visit to our site.”

Hawk Rise offers the best of both with picturesque countryside surroundings, and the market town of Ledbury only a short distance away. Residents can enjoy the town’s selection of local businesses, and there is easy access to the M50 for those that need to commute.

The development is now open on an appointment only basis, and currently has a number of three and four bedroom homes available, with prices starting from £284,995.
