Caddick donate for school's outdoor appeal

Caddick Construction is building stronger links with local West Yorkshire communities after donating £560 to Hollybank Trust in Mirfield for specially adapted nursery equipment.

Debbie Watson, Caddick Construction Social Value Manager, visited the charity in Mirfield to meet the staff and see how and where the equipment will be used and to find out more about the Trust and what they do. Caddick Construction is currently working on the nearby £12.5m Moorpark industrial project, on Leeds Road, Mirfield.

As part of the ongoing Moorpark construction project, a donation of £560 has been made to pay for adapted early years (nursery) equipment for the school which provides education for children and young people with profound and multiple disabilities. Debbie was accompanied on her tour by Anna O’Mahony, CEO of the Trust, John Howard, Community Ambassador and Hollybank Deputy Head of Education, Cara Broadbent.

Hollybank Trust provides teaching, residential care, along with a range of therapies and enrichment activities for children, young people and adults with profound and multiple disabilities. The support they offer to parents and families begins from the child’s first diagnosis and continues well beyond their school life into adulthood.

Debbie said: “It was amazing to see all the work that the staff undertake at Hollybank, they go above and beyond every day to ensure the people who live and learn with them get the very best care and enrichment opportunities possible. Caddick Construction was delighted to step in with the donation which we hope will make a positive difference for the youngest members of the school community.”

Hollybank’s Community Ambassador John Howard added: “We’re really grateful to Caddick for choosing to support our nursery. Many of our children are wheelchair users, so the donation will be funding some accessible equipment to make it easier for them to get involved in gardening activities and enhance the quality of their learning. Our children love being outside, and this equipment will really help us put smiles on their faces.”
