Work to build 36 new affordable rent council apartments has started in Clifton.

Nottingham City Homes was granted planning to build the one-bedroom apartments on the site of the former Southchurch garages, off Hamilton Court.

Construction is starting this week, with the new homes due to be completed in 2022.

These will be owned by Nottingham City Council and managed on their behalf by Nottingham City Homes. They will go to people on Nottingham’s council house waiting list.

The apartments are also being named after a popular 20-year-old Clifton soldier who tragically died in the line of duty nearly 10 years ago.
