Recruitment Firm Welcomes First Joint Hire After Sky High Demand For Jobs

Sky Recruitment Solutions is responding to the enormous increase in job vacancies across the country with another key appointment.

Many firms continue to expand after the UK lockdowns and are driving the economy’s growth by taking on more workers across all sectors.

Derby-based Sky Recruitment Solutions, plus Nottingham-based sister company Capella Professional, has made a key appointment in the shape of Romey Lee as business development manager. It is the first time the two firms have made a joint hire.

Romey, aged 34, is from Heanor in Derbyshire and for nine years worked at  Pfizer  Animal Health known as Zoetis, as pharmaceutical account manager in preventive healthcare.

She said: “Zoetis” wanted me to move to their head office in Surrey, London but as a single mum, that wasn't really feasible.”

She moved into commercial property working for Staton Young based at coworking and office space Cubo Derby and met Sky Recruitment Solutions’ MD David Torrington at a networking meeting.

Romey said: “I already knew David and even brought Sky into the building at Cubo!

“Later I had a chat with Ben Ryder at Capella Professional about the possibility of a career change which resulted in him recognising my skill set and what I could achieve at both Capella Professional and Sky Recruitment Solutions. It all happened organically.”

As a mum to six-year-old daughter Daphne, Romey is definitely ‘stepping up’ to the role because her passion for fashion includes owning over 300 pairs of shoes!

Her initial objective in the role is growth, maintaining existing relationships and getting the company names out there. She plans to work two days a week at the Derby office and two in Nottingham.

She said: “My skills are established in business development, but it is an exciting new industry for me. The main things that drew me to these companies were the people and team ethos. Team spirit is key.”

Capella Professional’s business manager Ben Ryder said: “With a network as big as Romey’s, why would we give the job to anyone else?

“Our core values are about people, connections and relationships, and Romey understands that and is keen to take us forward."

Sky Recruitment Solutions managing director David Torrington said: “In recent months we have experienced phenomenal growth in both of our businesses as companies look to expand and take on more people quickly.

“The appointment of Romey helps set our course for future expansion. She will help us identify the key areas to develop and having a fresh pair of eyes is invaluable to developing our key strategies for success.”

Sky Recruitment Solutions is set to smash its 2021 growth target three months early, thanks to the current boom in job vacancies.

The Derby-based recruitment group, which includes Nottingham-based sister company Capella Professional, had two offices and 10 staff this time last year – but this has rapidly expanded to eight locations and 25 staff.

It is now seeking five additional staff members by mid-September, meaning its original target of employing 30 staff by the end of 2021 will be achieved with months to spare.
