A couple from Leicester have secured a new property at David Wilson Homes’ Kibworth development to accommodate their growing family in the village location.
Sales Progressor Mercedes Gill (27) and her Security Guard partner Sharukh Sameja (26) have recently welcomed their second child, Sophia, who was born in May and makes up the family of four alongside their brother Zach (4).
The family, who were previously living in a city centre apartment and sold it just before the Coronavirus pandemic began, moved in with family to help them save for a new home.
Mercedes and Sharukh also used the Help to Buy scheme, which allows buyers to purchase a new home with just a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage. The remaining 20% is funded by an equity loan, interest-free for the first five years and repayable on the sale on the home.
The family have upsized to a three bedroom Kennett style property and are enjoying the extra space their new home gives them.
Mercedes said: “We chose to purchase a new build home because it’s so convenient. We could move in straight away once the house was ready and there was no unexpected DIY to do.
“The Kibworth development was recommended to us by a friend so we jumped at the chance to move there as it’s not too far from family either.
“Three double bedrooms means that Zach has his own room and one of them is a nursery for the baby. We all have our own space which we love and it’s amazing to have a house which feels like a true family home.”
Zach is enjoying exploring the rural surroundings after the family’s previous apartment was located in Leicester city centre and baby Sophia will soon be joining him once she’s old enough.
“We’re not used to being surrounded by greenery”, said Mercedes, “so it’s a nice change for us all to enjoy the countryside and we can’t wait for our new addition to make the most of how lovely the location is.”

David Wilson Homes at Kibworth is located on the south-east edge of Leicestershire and just a short drive from the centre via the A6 for access to shops, entertainment and a whole host of amenities.
