Aspbury Planning Announce Denise Knipe as Managing Director

Aspbury Planning Limited is delighted to announce that, with effect from 1 January 2022, Denise Knipe has been appointed as Managing Director of The Company and will be working alongside Tony Aspbury (Chair) and Mike Downes. The Company are very excited about Denise’s promotion which is both much deserved personally and professionally but is also part of the long-term succession planning.

Aspbury Planning is a Nottingham based business that was founded by Anthony (Tony) Aspbury in 1983. Mike Downes joined the practice as Principal Planner in January 1996, became a Partner in September 2000 and a Director upon incorporation in 2002.  Denise joined the company as Senior Planner in 2015, promoted to Principal Planner in 2016 and has been part of the succession planning for the company prior to her appointment as Managing Director this year.

Denise has had an unconventional journey in a career of planning which gives her a greater set of skills in taking on such an important role within the company. Steering the business through the pandemic and setting it on a course for a bright future. Denise gained her MSc in Urban and Regional Planning (part time day release at Sheffield Hallam) at the age of 36 whilst working full time as a Planning Technician at Melton Borough Council, raising three children under the age of 8, managing a house and husband’s Interior refit business. Prior to her Planning Technician role, she had employment with Next Retail plc as a Systems Support analyst (a far cry from the world of planning!)
