Nottingham South MP Lillian Greenwood swapped parliament for the playground as she joined pupils from Highbank School in Clifton yesterday as they took part in Ferrero’s unbranded corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, Joy of moving.
Delivered by Notts County Foundation, the Joy of moving programme aims to provide inspiration to 9-10 year-olds to get active and to enjoy movement through a playful approach. During the sessions, children learn, through fun games inspired by the unique Joy of moving methodology, about the importance of physical activity and balanced diets based on the Eatwell Guide.
Research shows that 55% of children in the UK do not meet the recommended guidelines of taking part in sport and physical activity for at least 60 minutes every day*. Through the unbranded Joy of moving programme, each child in year 5 receives 9 hours’ dedicated to physical activity and learning.
Following the session, Lillian Greenwood, MP praised the programme, saying: “I was delighted to visit Highbank School and to watch Notts County Foundation deliver a Joy of moving session to pupils. I could see, first-hand, the positive impact that this programme can have in the local community, by encouraging positive habits and giving children the information and skills they need."
Ferrero’s Joy of moving programme is developed and delivered through a long-term partnership with the English Football League Trust and its network of Club Community Trusts, like Notts County Foundation. Delivered up and down the country, the programme is designed to inspire active lifestyles in children and to help them develop positive habits for adulthood, based on the unique Joy of moving methodology.
