WE CAN BUILD: NORTHAMPTONSHIRE HOMEBUILDER DONATES EDUCATIONAL BOOKS TO PRIMARY SCHOOL

Hayfield Cross C of E Primary School has received 50 educational books written by graduates on David Wilson Homes’ ASPIRE Programme.

The book, named ‘We Can Build’, takes readers on the journey of building a house through the various professions in the housebuilding industry.

The book introduces young learners to the basic building blocks of the built environment, sustainability and will inspire the next generation of Architects, Engineers and Site Managers.

In addition, 100% of the profits of the sale of the books are going to The Prince’s Trust; a charity that helps connect young people with mentors, career opportunities and provide pathways into inspiring futures.

Dawn Fraser, School Business Manager at Hayfield Cross C of E Primary School, said: “We were really grateful to receive the donation of ‘We Can Build’ books from Barratt and David Wilson Homes.

“The book will teach our Key Stage One children about the process of building a new home, and will perhaps inspire our pupils to consider a career in the construction industry.”

The school, located on David Wilson Homes’ Bertone Gardens development on Warkton Lane, was delighted to receive the donation.

John Dillon, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “We are really proud of this year’s cohort of ASPIRE graduates for the amazing book they have put together.

“The book covers all elements of construction including architecture, engineering, surveying, site management, construction and sales. We hope that the book might inspire some of the pupils of Hayfield Cross C of E Primary School to become the next generation in the industry.”
