Network Space has submitted a full planning application to Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council for the regeneration and redevelopment of an initial phase of the former Sovereign Distillery site on the Huyton Business Park.
Joe Burnett, Development Director for Network Space, said: “This is a high-profile, exceptionally well-located site and, through this part demolition, part refurbishment and part new build strategy, we intend to deliver a multi-let industrial and logistics estate, perfectly suited for a wide range of occupiers.
“Where possible, we are seeking to reduce the development’s embodied carbon by retaining and repurposing existing buildings on the site, rather than a complete knockdown and start again approach which is less sustainable.
“The phase will deliver almost 200,000 sq ft of new employment space which will have a positive impact on economic development and regeneration within this part of Knowsley, attracting inward investment and creating much needed job opportunities following the relocation of Halewood, who were a key employer within the borough”
The self-contained site is located adjacent to the M62/M57 intersection, providing easy access to the entire Liverpool City Region, Manchester and beyond.
