CAMBRIDGESHIRE HOMEBUILDER WINS AWARD FROM THE RSPB

David Wilson Homes has been rewarded for its efforts in designing its show home gardens at Ramsey Park near Huntingdon with the local wildlife in mind.

The leading housebuilder has recently been awarded five stars from the Home Builder Federation (HBF) for the 13th year in a row and is continuing its success with a bronze certificate from the RSPB for making its show home gardens at the development wildlife friendly.

Features of the gardens include a bird box, integral bird bricks, bat box, bee box, hedgehog highway, hedgehog home, and food and water for birds.

David Wilson Homes has been partnered with the RSPB since 2014. The agreement is the first of its kind in the UK and aims to boost natural habitats at the developer’s developments across the country.

It has been acknowledged that private gardens in the UK cover 450,000 hectares of land, meaning there is huge potential to create great spaces for wildlife.  Therefore, David Wilson Homes is providing inspiration for home owners to enhance their own gardens with wildlife-friendly features.

Jason Hearn, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said, “We have been working with the RSPB for over seven years now and want to ensure that we’re doing as much as we can to retain and build upon the natural habitat around our developments.

“We’re really excited to have been awarded the certificate and for our customers to see the new wildlife friendly show home gardens to show the potential we have as homeowners to do our bit for the environment.

“Hopefully the new gardens will be soon buzzing with wildlife and anyone that comes to see them will be able to pick up some great tips for their new home.”

Ramsey Park is a new development with three and four bedroom homes currently available which are ideal for a range of buyers including growing families and working professionals.

The development provides excellent commuter links for working professionals being less than 11 miles from Huntingdon and within 15 miles of Peterborough.

There are many attractions near the countryside development, including the Great Fen Nature Reserve which provides the perfect escape for those looking to get a breath of fresh air. There are also two Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ schools for all ages two miles away.
