Burleighs Gin creates tea party tipple for local charity

Leicestershire distillery Burleighs Gin has launched a bespoke Mad Hatter’s Gin to celebrate Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland’s 70th anniversary.

Over a third of proceeds from every bottle will go towards thousands of local projects and communities. Aiming to help older people live happier, more active and socially engaged lives.

With refreshing notes of citrus and elderberry, the limited-edition recipe has been created by head distiller, Charlie Hendon, using the distillery’s Signature Gin as its base to keep it smooth and well-balanced.

Sam Watson, commercial director at Burleighs Gin, said: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with such an important local charity. We’re based in Leicestershire, so we see first-hand the support this charity offers.

“Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland remains a backbone to local families for 70 years and its amazing work can’t continue without much needed funding. We wanted to make a difference the best way we know how, through creating a celebratory gin!”

Every detail of the collaboration honours the charity’s ‘7-Tea Party campaign’, down to a specifically designed bottle, which plays its part in wider efforts to encourage supporters to get together and enjoy a themed party.

Tony Donovan, executive director of Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland said: “We are so proud to be a part of this exciting partnership with Burleighs. To have such an established local gin distiller helping celebrate our 70th year with a bespoke gin, is a fabulous way to raise funds for the vital work the charity does while being able to toast its success.”

This partnership highlights Burleighs’ ongoing commitment to supporting charities with bespoke gin creations, with previous collaborations including the National Forest and the Royal British Legion.

Sam added: “We hope the Mad Hatter’s Gin will go some way in supporting the kind and hard-working teams across the county, and we encourage our fans to purchase a bottle and raise a gin and tonic in the summer sunshine to the charity and all it does.

“For the ultimate tea party G&T, we recommend accompanying the gin with a premium elderflower tonic, plenty of ice, fresh or frozen raspberries and a wedge of lime.”

The Age UK Mad Hatter’s Gin (40% ABV in 70cl bottle) is now available for £35 from the Burleighs Gin website, with a limited number available at Everards Beer Hall on a first-come-first-served basis.
