National trade body celebrates Ibstock suppliers

A national trade body is celebrating suppliers in Ibstock who go the extra mile to support the building materials industry.

The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF), together with Builders’ Merchants News (BMN), have joined forces to identify the Top 100 Supplier Influencers across the sector and shine a light on their success.

Two members of the team at Ibstock plc, based in Ibstock, were nominated after meeting key criteria including involvement, presence, charity and community work as well as commitment to the industry.

Using social media, the BMF will highlight the work of each influencer ahead of a celebration Gala Dinner later this year.

Joe Hudson is Chief Executive Officer at Ibstock plc and was named as one of the Top 100 Supplier Influencers. Joe said: “It’s great to be nominated for such an important area of the construction industry’s supply chain. I’d like to thank the BMF and BMN for my nomination.

The second Influencer at Ibstock plc is Commercial Operations Director, Simon Taylor.

He added "I was a little shocked when I was contacted about this nomination, it's a real honour to be recognised amongst so many industry greats.

“I have now worked in this industry for 18 years for Wolseley, Bostik and now Ibstock and I absolutely love it.

“Great merchants, great suppliers and fantastic people."

The initiative follows last year’s Top 100 Merchant Influencers which recognised merchants who stepped up to support their communities.

John Newcomb, Chief Executive of the BMF, said: “The BMF is proud to represent merchants and their suppliers in the building materials industry and to partner with Builder Merchants News to celebrate the achievements of those going above and beyond in our sector.

“This new accolade reflects the positive influence these people have on those around them and on the wider industry and we’re delighted to shine a light on the work they do.”

The suppliers included on the list will feature in a commemorative brochure and be invited to a Gala Dinner celebration and networking event at the Belfry in May.

The BMF represents more than 870 merchant and supplier companies that collectively employ more than 230,000 people in the building materials industry, performing an essential national function in distributing construction materials and home improvement products across the UK.
