Festival of Food launches new homes in Derbyshire village

Bellway invited Derbyshire chef Lee Smith to launch its new development of homes in Chellaston and put on a cooking masterclass for visitors as part of a food-themed weekend last month.

A new sales centre and three showhomes were unveiled at Bellway’s Holbrook Park, which is part of Snelsmoor Village in Chellaston, on the southern outskirts of Derby.

Lee, a local chef and owner of Restaurant Lovage in Bakewell, cut the ribbon to the development and also created a variety of hors d’oeuvres for visitors and staff to enjoy during the two-day launch weekend.

Meanwhile Nottingham-based Exclusive Bar Hire served a variety of drinks, including gin, prosecco and soft drinks on both days, while Applebees Catering service, from Hinkley, served a variety of bagels, burgers and cake bakes to treat visitors and staff during the event.

Lee said: “There was a big turnout at Holbrook Park and a real buzz around the development. To be chosen to be the VIP guests and do a cooking demonstration was really special and we want to thank Bellway for this opportunity.

“I’ve been in the catering industry for over 20 years and worked my way up to head chef and business owner. Now I can do what I love every day and cook authentic British cuisine with a modern twist. I look forward to keeping in touch with the team and hopefully catering more Bellway events in Derbyshire in the future!”

Alex Wheatley, owner of Exclusive Bar Hire, said: “The Bellway team really made us feel welcome and a part of the event. We were kept really busy as visitors took a tour of the development and found our bar outside. On Saturday by around midday we had served in excess of 150 drinks and we continued to serve all the way to the end on Sunday. On behalf of the team, I want to thank Bellway for having us cater for the weekend launch. The warm weather and exceptional houses created the perfect launch.”

Charlotte Cottrill, owner of Applebees Catering, said: “We have branched out our catering to include the new Beestro Box which we use to cater outdoor events. My colleague Janis Rusins came on board to expand with Beestro Box which enables us to carer outdoor events throughout the UK.

“We’ve catered for a variety of Bellway development launches but this was the first time we’ve catered a food-themed development launch! It was certainly a busy couple of days and we want to thank the Bellway team for their hospitality and for using our services again.”

Bellway East Midlands is building 167 one, two, three and four-bedroom homes at Holbrook Park.

The homes are from Bellway’s Artisan Collection, which is a range the homebuilder has developed through decades of customer feedback. It showcases the best in contemporary home design and reflects over 75 years of expertise in housebuilding.

Steve Smith, Sales Director for Bellway East Midlands, said: “Holbrook Park is a flagship site for us and we wanted to create a community event at the heart of the development to mark the launch and all the work that has gone into it, as well as supporting local businesses.

“There was a great turnout at the weekend and visitors had a great time viewing the showhomes, looking at the landscape, talking to the sales team and indulging in the food and drink that was on offer.

“The Festival of Food theme worked well and it was great to partner with local chef, Lee Smith, who catered the event and held a cooking masterclass, as well as Alex from Exclusive Bar Hire, who kept the drinks flowing throughout the weekend.”

There’s currently a choice of three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Holbrook Park, priced from £289,950.
