GRAINGER’S NEW RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT, THE CONDOR, TO BE READY FOR JULY LAUNCH.
The UK’s largest listed provider of private rental homes, Grainger plc, has announced its first build-to-rent development in Derby (and the first of its kind in the city), The Condor, will be operational from July with viewings available from July.
Located on the former Debenhams site on Victoria Street, The Condor, named to celebrate one of the first engines built by Rolls Royce in 1918, Rolls-Royce Condor III, will provide 259 new build-to-rent apartments comprising a mix of stylish studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.
The Condor has been designed to celebrate Derby with interiors taking inspiration from the city’s engineering excellence, silk manufacturing, right through to The Derby Ram symbol.
Nods to the famed Rolls-Royce aircraft engine can be seen in the form of metal work, with dynamic shapes, mechanical features, and industrial accents throughout the development. Spiral forms also subtly nod to the iconic Derby Ram horns.
Within the resident’s lounge and co-working space, slate-grey and rich green soft furnishings with silk textures, create soft, inviting, and comfortable spaces, in addition to artwork which displays Derby’s famed mosaic street art.
The Condor offers a private dining room and kitchen area complete with cooking facilities, which residents can book to host dinner parties with friends and family, in addition to a 2,185sq ft roof terrace.
Complete with tree planting and greenery, the external rooftop provides residents with a space to celebrate the great outdoors – enjoy a picnic or read a book in the sunshine, whilst bringing nature into the heart of the development.
In addition, residents enjoy a gym, high speed broadband, dedicated onsite resident services team, secure car parking and bike store, and electric car charging points – all included within the rent.
Situated in the heart of the city centre, The Condor, provides an easy commute to Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham, and is within walking distance of Derby train station and the popular Derbion shopping centre.
Grainger’s portfolio of UK build-to-rent developments is not only providing much needed high-quality rental homes but is also proven to be making a positive social impact in local communities. Grainger’s Brook Place development in Sheffield was shown to have delivered £338,000 additional local spend to the area, with a £490,000 economic impact created, as well as 6 new jobs, with residents and local business owners commenting on the positive difference the development has made to the area.
Helen Gordon, Chief Executive at Grainger, said:
“The Condor is a great new addition to our build-to-rent portfolio, particularly with it being our first development in Derby.
“The Condor offers a new style of renting in the city, and we look forward to showcasing the benefits of professionally managed, Build to Rent homes as our residents settle into The Condor this summer.”
Also commenting Paul Morris, director of St James Securities, said:
“More than five years since we first visited this much neglected site, we are delighted to see The Condor become fully operational in the first phase of this landmark development, together with the new Springwell public square.
“We have worked very closely with Grainger plc throughout the project and are thrilled to have such a well-respected company be our first fund and operator in the scheme. The Condor will allow hundreds of people to live in high-quality homes in the heart of the city and has revitalised an area which has been challenged for many years.”
The Condor’s stylish apartments are complete with fantastic storage, modern integrated appliances and interiors and fibre optic WiFi – all included within the rent.
Monthly rent prices start from £875.
