ANOKI DERBY CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Leading fine dining restaurant, Anoki, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special event for more than 80 members of the local business community.

Since it first opened its doors at the Old Picture House on London Road in Derby, Anoki has established a reputation for serving up the finest cuisine and superlative service to create the ultimate dining experience.

A world away from the traditional curry house, Anoki, which takes its name from the Urdu word for ‘unique’, exudes opulence, with lavishly decorated interiors reminiscent of an Eastern palace, authentic Indian recipes and traditionally dressed waiting staff.

Over the past 20 years, the restaurant, which was founded by Naveed Khaliq, has established itself as one of the most unique dining experiences in the region and has set the standard that its competitors strive to achieve.

Anoki’s authenticity stems from the cultural influences of Nav and his family. The menu offers an authentic insight into traditional Indian cuisine, taken from a rich culinary tradition.

Guests at the event were treated to a fantastic evening, which started with a networking reception, followed by a banquet featuring a selection of Anoki’s signature dishes. The Anoki team also spoke about the history of the business and introduced the Anoki Foundation, which raises money to build water wells and provide access to clean drinking water for those communities that are most in need.

Speaking about Anoki’s success over the past 20 years, Naveed Khaliq said:

“Over the past 20 years, our commitment to customer service has set the bar for Indian fine dining and we aim to stay ahead of our competitors by continually reinventing ourselves., whether through introducing new dishes or new services.

“It was a huge privilege to welcome members of the local businesses, many of them loyal customers, to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I would like to thank all our customers for their continued support and to all our staff who work so hard to make Anoki such a unique experience.”

The restaurant is committed to innovation and over recent years has launched a range of new service offerings to enable people across the region to enjoy its fine dining cuisine.

This includes the Anoki Express range of chilled ready meals which were launched during the pandemic to enable customers to enjoy restaurant quality meals at home. Anoki currently has a fleet of 12 delivery vehicles which deliver across the East and West Midlands daily.

Over the years Anoki’s fusion of fine dining Indian cuisine has been rewarded with local and national accolades, including recognition in Sunday Times’ Top Places to Eat and Sunday Telegraph’s STELLA magazine, and Best Indian restaurant in the Midlands in the Cobra Good Curry Guide.

Other local accolades include Best International Restaurant at the Derby Food & Drink awards, Retail Business of the Year at the Derby Telegraph Business Awards and Excellence in Customer Service Award at the East Midlands Chamber’s Derbyshire Business Awards.
