Lincoln Crowned Brunch Capital of the East Midlands.

Brunch, a type of meal which is usually taken late in the morning that combines a late breakfast and an early lunch has boomed in popularity in the last few years, with Lincoln being crowned brunch capital of the East Midlands as searches rise a massive 56% from 2021 to 2023, The Cut & Craft has found.

Looking further into Lincoln, The Cut & Craft analysed over 8000 Tripadvisor restaurant reviews in the area. This showed that from 2021 to 2023 there had been a whopping 400% growth of reviews mentioning brunch in the city.

Leicester, which was the only other city with an increase, could not come close to Lincoln for the crown. They saw a 22% rise.

Looking at the UK national table, the data shows that Scotland had the largest increase (124%), just narrowly beating England (123%). Northern Ireland came third with 116% and Wales came fourth with a rise of 85%.

Elsewhere in the UK, Bangor NI came first (250%), Salford was second (243%), and Wakefield was third (175%).

Speaking on the findings, the managing director of The Cut & Craft Oscar Akgul said: “It is absolutely incredible to see these amazing rises in searches for brunch across the UK. Brunch is a meal that can be enjoyed by anyone whether that is in the late morning with your family or a bottomless brunch with your friends.”

He then went on to say:

“Not only is it fantastic to see a wide range of UK cities have such a high increase in searches for brunch, but it also shows that this meal trend is not slowing down anytime soon.”
