Work is progressing at Ideal Heating's multimillion-pound research and development centre in Hull.

Steelwork is in now place for the £19.2m UK Technology Centre being built at the National Avenue site. The facility will support the development of low carbon technologies, including heat pumps, and other ways in which homes can be heated sustainably.

Work being carried out by Yorkshire firm Henry Boot Construction is expected to complete next year, at which point the centre will house a range of simulators, test rigs and environmental chambers the firm will use to develop its technologies. Laboratory facilities within the 38,000 sqft building will give Ideal Heating's research and development teams the ability to simulate a range of conditions in which they can put their innovations to the test.
