Brims Construction toasts record year with doubling profits and workforce numbers

North East construction company Brims is toasting record success following a year which saw it more than double both profits and staff numbers.

The Sunderland company has filed accounts for the year ended March 2024 which show turnover grew by 46% to a record £58.3m, while operating profit more than doubled from £1.3m to £2.7m. Staff numbers at the company increased from 95 to 205, in part down to the firm’s acquisition of the Teesside division of collapsed contractor Tolent in the previous financial year, a move which saved a number of jobs.

Financial director Ian Clift said the directors were pleased after delivering another “excellent” set of results, saying the challenges of material and skilled labour shortages and price inflation which characterised 2023 had now stabilised. Looking ahead,
