The team at KH Hair in Leicester has rounded up a month of movement to help raise money for the Leicester Children’s Holidays charity with a 5K run at Victoria Park.
Four of the salon’s youngest members joined their co-worker and trainer, Martin Chamberlain, at the Park on Sunday 29 September to take on their first ever 5K after completing the Couch to 5K programme. Martin, himself, achieved his own personal pledge of walking/running 200 miles during the month.
The charity supports disadvantaged children throughout Leicestershire and Rutland, enabling them to enjoy holidays and short breaks, which are completely free and full of fun, food and joy. Throughout September, members of the KH Hair salon team have been undertaking personal physical challenges to help boost the charity’s funds.
Salon director, Amanda Fall, who walked/ran 200 miles during the month, said: “What a fantastic morning we had, coming together as a team to complete our own personal challenges. I’m so very proud of them all and grateful to all those who have supported us so far. I know some of the team will carry on with their running which is fantastic, and we’re looking forward to more challenges in the future!”
The Bowling Green Street salon, which has raised over £2000 for Leicester Children’s Holidays so far, is holding a special charity event on Sunday 6 October. Between 11am and 3pm, the salon will be open for hair and beauty treatments at a reduced cost. There will also be a raffle with some great prizes up for grabs. All proceeds from the event will be going to the charity. To book, call the salon on 0116 255 3573.
