Blackpool's £65m multiversity project faces public scrutiny in eight-day inquiry

An eight-day public inquiry will determine the fate of a £65m regeneration project in Blackpool's city centre. The hearing will be overseen by Planning Inspector Phillip Ware and will focus on a compulsory purchase order (CPO) that Blackpool Council is seeking to clear land for the proposed multiversity.

Despite having already acquired 70% of the site between Cookson Street, Milbourne Street, George Street and Grosvenor Street, the council has faced 13 objections to the CPO, triggering the public inquiry. Some objections have been withdrawn as property acquisition negotiations continue, with the hearing set to hear evidence from remaining objectors and the council.

The public inquiry will take place at The Imperial Hotel on North Promenade, starting on Tuesday, November 12 until Friday, November 15. It will then resume on
