A £100m civil service hub that is set to be its town's tallest office structure is nearing completion. The seven-storey, 215,000 sq ft office building on King Street in Blackpool will accommodate 3,000 staff members from the Department for Work and Pensions.
Main contractor VINCI Building started work in February 2023. By December last year, the framework was up and the façades, made from ultra-high strength concrete and designed to reflect an Art Deco aesthetic in line with Blackpool's architectural heritage, were installed.
A significant milestone was reached in July with a topping-out ceremony marking the building as the tallest office structure in the town. Set to open in 2025, the facility will bring over 3,000 government employees to Blackpool's town centre.
