Crucial energy support that has already helped thousands of local residents is set to continue in Nottingham after Cadent announced a project extension for Evolve CIC to continue to operate as one of its Centre for Warmth partners.
Since being established as a Centre for Warmth, Evolve CIC has provided crucial cost-of-living support, offering safe and welcoming spaces to offer practical energy-related advice.
Since becoming a Centre for Warmth in 2024, the initiative has had a significant impact locally, supporting more than 8,000 residents. More than 2,800 pieces of energy efficiency advice have been received, while 236 free carbon monoxide alarms have been distributed to keep households safe.
Cadent, the UK’s largest gas distribution network, set up the Centre for Warmth programme six years ago to support households living in vulnerable situations with specialist energy efficiency and carbon monoxide safety advice. Working with trusted partners at the heart of the community, the programme is funded through Ofgem’s Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Initiative (VCMI) and can offer benefits checks and income advice.
Nationally, Cadent reported record numbers of people using its Centres for Warmth last year, with an additional 40,000 users across its network. The extended partnership in Nottingham will ensure residents yet to receive support have access at Evolve CIC.
