Lighting manufacturer Northern Lights has unveiled its 2026 ceiling collection, a series of sculptural designs shaped by material experimentation and technical precision.
Each piece is developed and handcrafted in the company’s Derbyshire HQ, continuing a long-standing focus on British craft and engineering to honour the rich heritage and creative vision of Northern Lights’ designers and artisans.
The new range continues the company’s focus on British manufacturing, combining traditional craft techniques with modern production to create high-end lighting for homes, hotels and commercial spaces.
Drawing on technical mastery, the range explores artisan glass techniques - from hand-slumped and kiln-fused to tinting, hand-cut panels, and custom moulds. Natural alabaster, rich brass, and precision metalwork complete the material palette, with each carefully crafted to maximise texture, material expression, and light interaction.
Exploring crystal-inspired forms, flowing glass, and layered illumination, the collection reveals several new designs which showcase a series of distinct sculptural identities:
- Ember, combining fused glass with hand-cut coloured panels
- Jewel, inspired by gemstone forms with multi-faceted glass and brass detailing
- Veil, featuring cascading glass leaves with a soft, layered glow
- Prism, pairing alabaster stone with precision-cut brass
- Link, a modular design formed from interlinked metal rings
Each design can be tailored, with options to adjust size, materials and configuration to suit different projects.
“At the heart of this launch is a focus on material behaviour and design experimentation,” explains Michael Jackson, Head of Design at Northern Lights.
“Each piece emerged from hands-on exploration of light and material interaction. We pushed glass, alabaster, and metal to reveal their full potential, shaping forms that hold space, command presence, and create visually rich narratives.”
Michael adds: “The result is a ceiling collection that moves beyond decorative lighting into sculptural spatial definition, shaping a bold interplay of light and form that transforms ceilings into visually rich focal points.”
