Caremark, a leading UK home care provider, has announced the finalists for its annual UK awards, ‘The Incredibles’ and Ephantus Kariuki from Caremark’s Kettering & Wellingborough office has been recognised in the country’s top ten care assistants. With over 6,500 care assistants across more than 140 Caremark franchises throughout the UK, the selection process was particularly competitive.
‘The Incredibles’ awards celebrate the contributions of care assistants who demonstrate an exceptional dedication to providing outstanding care. Ephantus stood out for his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of his customers, offering not only professional care but compassion and kindness that has a lasting impact on those he supports.
Ephantus has been nominated for his gentle, patient and professional approach. Always willing to step in, it was noted that he was the first to help when a bedridden customer was left alone in the early hours of the morning when her husband had to be taken to the hospital. Ephantus was with the customer within 30 minutes, much to the relief of their family based in the USA.
According to Prab Bawa and Priya Rampal, Managing Directors of Caremark’s Kettering & Wellingborough office, who nominated Ephantus: “He is one of the most caring and dependable members of our team. He has been recognised more than once for his outstanding work, being chosen as our Care Assistant of the Month in September 2024 and again in July 2025.
“We are proud of the way Ephantus represents Caremark in the community and the way he embodies what good home care should be. Families regularly tell us how much they appreciate his kindness and the difference he makes to their loved ones.”
Ephantus, who originally came to the UK from Zimbabwe, was described by one customer as “a saint” who makes them feel “safe, respected and cared for”.
To honour these care assistants, Caremark will be hosting a special event at the iconic Fortnum & Mason in London on 21st November 2025. The finalists will enjoy an afternoon tea and be celebrated for their contributions to the care sector. The highlight of the event will be the announcement of ‘The Incredible of the Year’, a title reserved for the finalist whose work has shown exceptional dedication and impact.
