Ballards has supported five members of staff to gain their HGV driving license, improving their skill set and overall business capacity
Family-run removals, storage and haulage group, Ballards, has invested £12,500 in its removals team, putting five members of staff through training to achieve their HGV driving license.
Rob Witham, Rowan Harris, Adam Hodgson, Will Barker and Josh Rayner recently passed their HGV driving test after spending a total of five days in training over a six week period. This included a HGV theory test, Driver CPC Modules 2 and 4, a hazard perception test and four days of practical driver training, followed by a practical driving test.
The entire training and testing process was fully funded by Ballards, at an approximate cost of £2,500 per driver.
By having an additional five HGV drivers, Ballards will now be able to expand its fleet of trucks, as well as have the capacity to send two drivers on each long distance journey for European removals, to share the driving responsibilities. In addition, it will allow for greater flexibility within the business to cover all driving roles.
Speaking of his new qualification, Rob Witham said:
“I’m very grateful to Ballards for funding this training and am extremely proud to have passed my HGV driving test first time. I’ll now be able to take up the driver role on removals all across the UK and Europe, and will hopefully be able to cover haulage work for the business when I have gained a bit more experience.”
