A much-loved Derbyshire bakery has launched a brand-new loaf that’s fast becoming a rising star among customers – a super-seeded sourdough packed with flavour and even a few health perks.
Stacey’s Bakery, which has shops in Ilkeston, Heanor and Eastwood, has unveiled its latest creation this week. With a chewy texture and rich, malty flavour, the seeded sourdough made with pumpkin seeds, red quinoa, mountain lentils and chia seeds is already proving a hit with regulars.
For a limited time, the bakery is offering the new sourdough loaf at a special introductory price to encourage more people to try, with the small sourdough available for £1.65 (usually £2.00) and the large for £2.56 (usually £3.50).
As well as tasting delicious, the loaf comes with some impressive benefits. The slow fermentation process, which takes between one and three days, helps break down gluten, making it easier to digest. It also produces lactic acid bacteria that promote gut health, while the seeds themselves increase fibre content and help reduce blood sugar spikes.
David Stacey, managing director of the family-run bakery, said: “We’ve been baking traditional breads for generations, but we also love creating something a little different.
"Our new seeded sourdough gives customers the perfect balance, a loaf that’s wholesome, hearty and packed with goodness, without compromising on taste. It makes fantastic toast and an even better sandwich!”
The new recipe has been carefully developed by the bakery’s master bakers at its Ilkeston site, combining traditional sourdough methods with a modern mixture of nutrient-rich seeds and grains.
David added: “There’s a real appetite among our customers for new flavours and textures, and this loaf ticks every box. We think it’s going to become a firm favourite.”
