The team at one of David Wilson Homes’ Oxfordshire developments are donning purple PPE this month to support Stroke Association’s Make May Purple campaign.

The construction teams at River Meadow in Stanford in the Vale dressed to impress by sporting the colourful hard hats and high visibility vests to do their bit for the campaign, whilst also making a £200 donation towards the charity’s work.

As part of Stroke Awareness Month, each year the charity asks people to help raise awareness by wearing purple and donating to support vital research into treatment and rehabilitation for stroke survivors. The theme of this year is “Save research. Rebuild lives” and is highlighting the damaging effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on stroke research.

As a result of the pandemic, there has been a severe drop in charitable income which has restricted the charity’s research budget for this year – putting new, innovative research at risk.

David Wilson Homes hopes its fundraising and support of the campaign will help to encourage other people locally to donate to the cause.

Paul Crispin, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We are very happy to be supporting Make May Purple with the Stroke Association and I think our team at River Meadow will have enjoyed the opportunity to wear purple PPE.

“We’re taking part in this fantastic campaign to support stroke research and all those who have been affected by strokes and hopefully do our bit towards raising awareness.

“It is very important that as a five star-rated housebuilder we are getting involved and supporting charities like this. We hope that our contribution to this campaign can help to make the month even bigger and better than last year.”
