OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW: WARWICKSHIRE RESIDENTS REVEAL WHY NEW IS THE WAY FORWARD IN PROPERTY

It’s out with the old and in with the new as residents in Warwickshire have named the top reasons they’d choose to buy a new build over a second-hand property.

For many house hunters, it can be daunting to know where to start when looking for your first, or even your forever home. But a recent survey has highlighted the reasons people living in Warwickshire would choose to purchase a property from a new build developer.

The survey, which was conducted by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes*, named things such as upsizing to a bigger property as the top reason new could be the way forward.

A wider/ bigger space

With 32% people in the area naming more space as a key influence to choosing new, Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes’ properties have got house hunters covered.

The developers design each of their properties with quality, the customer and modern living in mind. The homes prioritise space, and with free-flowing living and dining areas that encourage natural light into the spacious rooms. The expertly crafted properties provide generously sized bedrooms that give each member of the family their own space to enjoy, whilst also having large social areas where quality time can be spent together.

Good value in the long run

Additionally, 32% of people in the county also said that purchasing a new build property would ensure good value in the long run. New build properties can rise in value over the years making them a great investment for homebuyers.

Second-hand properties have the potential to bring dodgy DIY from previous owners with them and research from Pilkington UK found that it takes an estimated £26,000 of home improvements to achieve the perfect home after moving in.

With work on new build properties already completed to make them perfect for modern living, homeowners don’t need to worry about any costs of future home improvements racking up over the next few years.

Additionally, Barratt and David Wilson Homes has been awarded a maximum five star rating for the 12th consecutive year in the Home Builders Federation Customer Satisfaction Survey, meaning buyers can have peace of mind that they are in safe hands with a highly-accredited housebuilder.

Purchasing a home on a large development can also be appealing to buyers when it the time comes to sell as they may have brand new facilities onsite such as schools, parks and community centres.

Jan Ruston, Sales Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “This survey highlights the fact that new homes generally offer a range of benefits that the second hand market cannot hope to match.

“It’s no surprise that people in Warwickshire have named these top influences in them choosing a new build property and it’s great to see so many people recognising the benefits of these.”

Barratt Homes has properties available in the county at its developments The Long Shoot in Nuneaton, Deram Parke in Coventry and St James’ Gate in Weddington.

David Wilson Homes is also building in the county at Ashlawn Gardens and The Moorings in Rugby.
